You can never have a complete look with a splash of color on your lip. It may seem as simple as running your lipstick over each lip and just dabbing it in place. However, getting the lipstick right can make you look flawless. It will also make your lips look supple and a lot sharper.

Products that you need:
Foundation
Powder
Lipstick of your choice
Matching lip liner

Step 1: Prim your lips
Take a small amount of foundation and apply it on your lip. Dab it into place to make sure that it gets a nice matte finish. This will give your lips a nice nude finish to make any color pop.

Step 2: Seal the prim
Use a lipstick brush to apply a small amount of powder on your lips. This will make sure that your lips will be able to take any type of color that you choose and bring out the brightest shade.

Step 3: Line the lip
On the cupid’s bow of your lip, make an “X” with your liner. Then, join the ends of your upper lip to the X. On your lower lip, line the center of your lip. Then, join this to the corners of the lower lip. You have the perfect lining of your lip.

Step 4: Fill in the color
Gently brush the lipstick over your lip in the area within the lining. Make sure that you do not press the color it. Apply it smoothly to have an even coat. The lipstick may be of the same color as your liner. But, if you want to make a statement, you can even choose a lighter or contrasting color.

Step 5: Lock the color in place
Use a tissue to blend your lipstick in place. Just fold the tissue in half and hold it between the lips. You can then press your lips down gently on the tissue to seal the color in. This step also ensures that the lipstick is evenly applied and does not have any blotches.

You can use a bold color to make a statement. You can just apply the color evenly on your lips. If you really want to stand apart in a crowd, try using two different shades on each lip. It could simply be one dark shade on the upper lip and a light one on the lower lip. You can even go completely crazy and apply one different color on each lip altogether.

To make the lipstick subtle, apply some on the center of your lips and then smudge it around with your fingers. This makes the lipstick lighter and also spreads it evenly on your lip.

If you love a glossy finish, add a thin layer of matching gloss on the lip. You can even use some petroleum jelly to achieve this effect. Your lips will look supple and luscious. Make sure you use good quality lipsticks to prevent any damage to your lips such as chapping.
